Algorithmic Trading with NinjaTrader Description
Algorithmic Trading with NinjaTrader is a NinjaTrader algorithmic trading course on coding your own strategies, indicators and add-ons for NinjaTrader 8. I share what I've learned from my own trading and coding, including things that cost me sleepless nights. Whenever I found something useful, or painful to understand, I added a lesson, so the course keeps growing. One honest note: that's why a few lessons start in NinjaTrader 7 and then move the code to NinjaTrader 8.
What's inside. 122 lectures, about 12 hours, in 13 sections. It starts with the platform: account setup, Sim mode, a first backtest in the Strategy Analyzer, and Market Replay. Coding for Traders sets up Visual Studio and covers the C# you need, from variables to classes. Then you build the main strategy framework (stops and orders, bars since entry, parameters for the Strategy Analyzer) and your first indicators. Later sections cover a custom optimizer, Chart Trader and ATM strategies with break even, auto trail and OCO brackets, and custom bar types. Two complete systems are built step by step: a Larry Williams RSI scale-in system and a Bollinger breakout system with complex money management, taken all the way to live-market problems and order bug fixes. It ends with an indicator from scratch, add-ons with their own WPF window, and a multi-timeframe Heiken Ashi matrix.
What you'll be able to do. Turn your own ideas into automated strategies on one reusable framework, then test and optimize them. You'll code indicators, including multi-timeframe ones, add custom buttons and Chart Trader controls, send Telegram alerts, connect strategy entries to ATM strategies, build your own bar types and create add-ons. The bonus lectures are full of small fixes from real trading, like orders filled by ask or bid and the last live bar versus the last closed bar.
Who it's for. Traders who want to code their own automated strategies in NinjaTrader 8 and understand what the platform does under the hood. The first two sections start from zero, so you don't need to be a programmer, and the later ones go deep enough for coders who already know NinjaScript.
Why it still matters with AI. AI like Claude can write NinjaScript now. But to check, fix and change what it writes, you need to know how NinjaTrader really behaves: how orders get filled, what happens on the first tick of a bar, why a strategy that works in testing can trip up live. That's the hands-on knowledge this course is built from. Everything in the course is coded on screen, step by step. My advice is the same as always: type it yourself as you watch rather than copy it, then use AI like Claude to explain, check or extend what you built. That's how it sticks. Enjoy the course!
