NC Super Smoother RSI Description

NC Super Smoother RSI is a Super Smoother RSI indicator for NinjaTrader 8, and it comes with the full C# source code. The RSI is quick, which also makes it jumpy. Instead of changing the RSI itself, I kept it as it is and laid a smoothed line on top, so you see the raw reading and the calm version together. Smoothing always costs some delay, so the smooth line turns a little later than the RSI. That's the trade. How it works. The RSI is the standard Wilder version: average gains against average losses over Period bars (14 by default), and it sits at 50 until there are enough bars. The Smoother line runs a moving average over the RSI with Smoother Period 10. Smoother Type defaults to John Ehlers' Super Smoother, a two-pole filter that removes short-term noise, and you can switch it to EMA, SMA, HMA, TMA, TEMA, VWMA or WMA. Signals come from the RSI line when it leaves a zone: -1 when it falls back below Top Threshold (80), +1 when it rises back above Bottom Threshold (20). What you see. A thin purple RSI line and a thick cadet blue Smoother line in their own panel, on a fixed 0 to 100 scale, with dashed gray lines at both thresholds. Turn on Show Signals and every signal draws an arrow on the price chart: a dark green up arrow below the bar, a dark red down arrow above it. How to use it. Read the Smoother for the bigger swing and the RSI for timing, and give more weight to signals that agree with the Smoother's direction. The default 80 and 20 are strict, so signals are rare; move them to 70 and 30 if you want more. For strategies, the Signals plot holds +1, -1 and 0, and the RSI and smoothed values are exposed too, so a strategy or the Strategy Builder can use them without extra code. Make it yours. Like all my frameworks, it comes with a code review video that covers the theory and the code. Use it as is, learn from the code, or change it yourself or with AI like Claude. You could make the signals come from the Smoother instead of the RSI, add a signal when the RSI crosses the Smoother, or add an alert. The RSI math, the smoother choice and the signal rules each sit in their own small method, so it's an easy base to build on. Have some good trades!
