Why NC Binance Adapter

Binance, inside the NinjaTrader you already use.

Crypto trades around the clock, and following it on another platform means new charts, new tools and new habits. NC Binance Adapter brings Binance's spot pairs and perpetual futures into NinjaTrader 8: history from daily bars down to every single trade, live prices, and the full order book in the SuperDOM. No Binance account or API key needed.

The adapter is a NinjaTrader connection. It reads Binance's public market data, so no Binance account or API key is needed.

01

Spot and perpetual futures

Spot pairs, USD-M and COIN-M perpetuals. Pick the symbols you want in one window.

02

History down to the tick

Daily and 1-minute bars, plus every trade from Binance's daily archives for tick, Renko, range and footprint charts.

03

Live data and Level 2

Last trade, bid and ask, and an order book kept in sync with Binance for the SuperDOM.

04

Volume in USDT

Volume is the traded value in the quote currency, so the volume of different coins compares directly.

Charts and history

Every bar type, built from Binance's own trades.

Open a chart, type the instrument name and choose any bar type. The adapter loads exactly the history NinjaTrader asks for.

Renko chart of BTCUSDT_SPOT built from Binance tick data
A Renko chart of BTCUSDT_SPOT built from Binance ticks. Indicators, drawing tools, strategies and the Strategy Analyzer work as on any other NinjaTrader chart.
Bar type on the chartData loaded from Binance
Day, Week, Month, YearDaily bars, one per UTC day as on Binance.
Minute, and every timeframe NinjaTrader builds from minutes1-minute bars, four requests at a time. A month takes about 4 seconds, a year about 40 seconds.
Tick, Second, Renko, Range, Volume and other bars built from ticksEvery trade, from Binance's daily archives and its API.
Order flow that reads right. Binance's trade history has no bid and ask quotes, but every trade records which side started it. The adapter places trades started by a buyer at the ask and trades started by a seller at the bid, so buy and sell volume, delta and other order-flow tools classify historical trades correctly.

Footprint charts, too.

Because every trade lands on the right side, NinjaTrader's Volumetric bars show real bid and ask volume at each price on Binance symbols, with delta and cumulative delta for every bar. History and live trades both. Volumetric bars are part of NinjaTrader's Order Flow+.

Tick data

Years of ticks, downloaded once.

Binance publishes a file with every trade of each day. The adapter downloads those files four at a time, keeps them on disk, and asks the Binance API only for the hours that aren't in a file yet.

DayWhere its ticks come from
Past daysBinance's daily archive file, downloaded once and kept on disk. A few seconds per day.
Yesterday, until Binance publishes its fileThe Binance API, then kept on disk. Spot files arrive about 01:45 UTC, futures about 07:00 UTC.
TodayThe Binance API, downloaded once and kept on disk. Later loads ask only for the ticks since the last one. Busy futures symbols arrive at about 100,000 ticks per minute.
Binance Downloads window: a year of 1-minute bars done in 40 seconds, today's ticks loading
Binance Downloads. Every long load in one place, with progress and time left. Cancel any time: finished days stay on disk, and the next load continues from there.

Live data and Level 2

The order book, live and in sync.

While connected, charts update with every trade, and bid and ask follow Binance's best bid and ask. For the SuperDOM and Level II the adapter keeps its own copy of Binance's order book: it starts from a snapshot, applies every change Binance sends, checks that no change was missed, and reloads the book by itself if one was.

Level II window on BTCUSDT_SPOT with the best bid and ask levels of the Binance order book
Level II on BTCUSDT_SPOT. The best bid and ask levels of Binance's order book, sizes in USDT.
SuperDOM on ETHUSDT_USDM with Binance prices
SuperDOM on ETHUSDT_USDM, a USD-M perpetual.
  • Depth50 price levels per side by default, up to 500, set in the connection.
  • SizesIn USDT, like volume.
  • Price stepsBTCUSDT spot moves in steps of 0.01. Set the instrument's tick size to 1 and the book is summed into one-dollar rows; bids round down and asks up, so the two sides never overlap.

Who it's for

Built for crypto traders who live in NinjaTrader.

NinjaTrader traders adding crypto

You already chart futures or stocks in NinjaTrader and want Binance next to them, with the same indicators and workspaces.

Renko and order-flow traders

You need tick history for Renko, range and footprint charts, and buy and sell volume that classifies trades the right way.

Strategy builders

You want to test crypto ideas in the Strategy Analyzer on Binance's full trade history, down to the tick.

Before you buy

The honest trade-offs.

A data connection has limits of its own. Here's what to expect.

  • Data only. It brings Binance market data into NinjaTrader and doesn't send orders to Binance. Use it with a simulation account, for research and backtesting, or next to your broker connection.
  • Not every country. Binance doesn't serve every country. Where Binance is blocked, the adapter can't load data.
  • Tick history is big. The first tick chart of a symbol downloads Binance's daily files, a few seconds per day, and today's ticks from the API. All of it is kept on disk, so later loads only fetch the new ticks.
  • Multi-provider mode is required. Without it NinjaTrader doesn't show the Binance connection.
  • Volume is in the quote currency. USDT on USDT pairs, but on a pair quoted in another coin, such as ETHBTC, it's counted in that coin. Use USDT pairs for volume-based tools.

FAQ

Questions traders ask.

Can I trade on Binance through the adapter?

No. The adapter is a data connection only; it doesn't send orders to Binance.

Do I need a Binance account or API key?

No. The adapter reads Binance's public market data.

Do footprint charts work on Binance data?

Yes. NinjaTrader's Volumetric bars build from the adapter's tick history and live trades. Each trade is placed at the bid or the ask by the side that started it, so the footprint shows real buy and sell volume at every price, with delta for each bar. Volumetric bars are part of NinjaTrader's Order Flow+.

How far back does the history go?

To the day the symbol was listed on Binance, for example 17 August 2017 for BTCUSDT spot and 8 September 2019 for BTCUSDT USD-M.

The Binance connection is not in Connections → Configure.

Turn on Multi-provider mode under Tools → Options → General and restart NinjaTrader.

The connection turns red with "Unable to reach Binance".

Check your internet connection and firewall. Binance blocks access from some countries; there the adapter can't load data.

The Binance Symbols window is empty.

Connect the Binance connection. The list loads on the first connect and is remembered after that.

A tick chart takes a while the first time.

The adapter is downloading Binance's daily files; the Binance Downloads window shows the progress. The next load comes from disk and from NinjaTrader's database.

Are today's ticks downloaded again on every load?

No. Today's ticks come from the Binance API once and are kept on disk, so the next load reads them from there and asks Binance only for the trades since. Past days come from Binance's daily files on disk.

"Binance has no tick archive for …" appears in the Log tab.

Binance has no trade file for that day, usually because the symbol wasn't listed yet. The chart has no ticks for that day.

Where are the tick files kept?

In Documents\NinjaTrader 8\NCBinanceCache, one file per symbol and day. You can delete the folder while NinjaTrader is closed to free space; days are downloaded again when needed.

My license isn't confirmed when I connect.

The connection doesn't connect, and a License Issue box and the Log tab say why. Check that the Activation email is the one you bought the adapter with. If the message says the machine ID doesn't match, update it in your ninjacoding.net account; NinjaTrader shows it under Help → About. If the license server didn't answer, check your internet connection and firewall.

I used the older Binance adapter with the setup program.

Uninstall it first: Windows Settings → Apps → BinanceAdapter → Uninstall. The Binance instruments you created with it are kept and converted the first time you connect.

Why are Binance instruments created as Stock?

NinjaTrader only accepts a short list of currency pairs as crypto, so the instruments are created with the type Stock. The type has no effect on charts, data or the SuperDOM.

Crypto charts next to your other markets.

Spot and perpetual futures, every tick, full depth.
